Top 10 Canadian Animals
Are you ready for another edition of our top 10 lists honouring Canada’s 150th?
These have been a lot of fun to create and research. We could have never guessed how difficult it would be to narrow down many of these categories into a top 10. They clearly helped to demonstrate to us, just how unique and diverse a country Canada is!
This one took us back to grade school. No – not more treats. Back because we had to research a bit for this one. As a result, we’ve dusted off some of the knowledge we probably had way back then and have forgotten over time.
The graphic below is a bit of a hint. Yep – we’re going to the animal kingdom for the next list in our series. Canada has a wide variety of animals that adapt well to our varying climates and landscapes. These are some of the iconic animals synonymous with Canada. This is our Top 10 Canadian Animals…

Has anyone had the opportunity to actually see all 10 of these?
** Ok we’ll admit we had never heard of the wolverine before. We mean the non-Marvel-movie-Hugh-Jackman kind. But just finding out that there was such a creature and indigenous to Canada – well – clearly – had to make the list!
With all the amazing nature trails that surround us here at Taboo Resort, we are fortunate to be able to witness some of nature’s most beautiful creatures on a daily basis.
We learned from our friends over at www.muskokawaterweb.ca that Muskoka has:
- Over 250 species of birds
- Almost 50 kinds of mammals
- 25 types of reptiles and amphibians
- Dozens of species of fish
