TABOO COURSE RENOVATIONS

Last fall, we made the decision to renovate our golf course. We hired Alan Chudnovsky, Golf Course Designer and Construction Manager, who together with our Golf Course Superintendent Ryan Kerr and the Taboo Muskoka team, have been working to redesign the Taboo Course. Our new eye-catching white sand bunkers will provide stark contrast against the backdrop of Taboo’s iconic rolling fairways and exposed Canadian Shield. We look forward to welcoming you at the golf course to see all of our exciting changes.

Taboo Muskoka’s new bunkers now feature innovative, cutting-edge technology called Capillary Concrete. Capillary Concrete allows rainwater to drain while preventing unwanted groundwater from filling our bunkers, allowing the same amazing play you expect at Taboo, even after a heavy downpour. To begin the process of our new bunkers, the old sand is removed and each bunker is reshaped. Upon reshaping, drainage piping is installed before a 2-inch thick porous Capillary Concrete liner is laid down, the key to improving drainage and preventing washouts. Once the concrete has set, sand is then added back to the bunkers and the area surrounding it is re-sodded.
