An update from Golf Course Manager Thom Charters
It has been an excruciatingly long winter in Muskoka. In fact, at the time of writing (April 26th), there is still snow on shaded parts of the golf course and ice on Lake Muskoka. Finally we have some warmer weather in the forecast and that will enable our eager turf team to get on with course preparations. The good news is that the course has wintered very well. Greens and tees have been virtually unaffected by disease or any kind of winter kill and fairways are the best they have been at this time of year. So…. Opening Day is now scheduled for May 11th and we look forward to an exceptional 2018 golf season.
Whether you play Taboo frequently or haven’t been here in years, you will experience a number of new features this year. A lit par 3 hole is being constructed behind the clubhouse along with a fire pit/sitting area for golfer and resort guest enjoyment. We are confident this will become a fun centre, both day and night, where people can hit a ball for the first time or settle friendly wagers with a beverage of their choosing. To go with that beverage, there is an exciting new menu to be sampled and offerings from a new portable kitchen, The Gimme Truck, that will satisfy your tastebuds at the range before your round or at the turn. The Golf Team under new Director of Golf, Gary Boyce, the Food and Beverage Team under new Chef Matt Bilinski and Bev Mittlestrass and the Turf Team under Golf Course Superintendent Ryan Kerr can’t wait for the opportunity to welcome you soon.
